2011
Nearly six years at the guesthouse!  We have no idea where the time has gone but we know we've enjoyed every minute of it!  Looking forward to 2012 with so mugh going on in Ipswich with the Olympics only 50 minutes away on the train.

2010
Another amazing year at the guest house!  We re-furbished the dining room and managed the chaos that went with the re-furbishment of Room 2's bathroom without resorting to valium!  We can hardly believe that 4th January 2011 is our 5 year anniversary...and we have so much more we want to do!

2009
We received another visit from a Quality In Tourism 'mystery guest' this July and were delighted to maintain our Gold Accolade for another year.
This year we are continuing with the re-furbishment of the guesthouse focussing on the common guest areas.  Work has started and we extend our apologies to all future guests for the necessary eyesore!

2008
The re-furbishment of the rest of the bedrooms was completed in the Spring and when our ‘mystery guest’ from Quality In Tourism visited us in July she awarded us a Gold Accolade.  We were delighted to have achieved such recognition for the quality of our breakfast, the standard and cleanliness of our accommodation and our customer service.  It certainly felt as though all of the time and effort that goes into achieving the Gold Accolade, had been well worth it!

2007
By the end of our first full year at the guesthouse we’d learnt and done a lot.  The dining room and some of the bedrooms had been re-furbished – continuing to welcome guests while keeping chaos to a minimum became an art form!

2006
We bought Sidegate Guesthouse in January from Diane and Peter Marriott. They had built up an excellent reputation and we were lucky to be taking over such a well established and popular business. We had a frantic initial few months, falling over unpacked packing cases, finding out how sensitive the fire alarm was to anything beyond a minute and a half of bread in the toaster and getting Eki, our chocolate brown Labrador, used to his new home and so many people staying in it!

Ours is the only bed he's allowed on. . . . .
